Foyle Sunday Society members had to endure tough playing conditions in their latest outing with Paul Dunn recording his maiden victory with a fine score of 40pts followed closely by 12 handicappers Paul Mc Eleney and Ciaran O’ Doherty in second and third respectively.

The very successful 2013 Desmond Motors Winter League came to a conclusion on Saturday last when the eight qualifying teams played for the four prizes on offer in the Final and as in the qualifying section of the league the final was also a very keenly contested affair with the pre -competition favorites John Jennings, Dermott Harkin, Mark Doherty and Ciaran O’ Doherty producing a fine score of 96pts to win the coveted 2013 Winter League title with three points to spare.

The Ladies section of the League was also a very keenly contested affair with three teams still in the running until the last three cards when the winners Lady Captain Faye Mc Grotty, Margaret Mc Carron and Brenda Cooke put in a strong finish to accumulate 408pts and collect the Winter League Ladies title.
Once again everyone at Foyle are deeply indebted to Desmond Motors for their continued and generous sponsorship which is now in its fifteenth year of this very successful event.
A special thanks must go to the competition convener Gerry Coyle for a job well done also thanks to Golf Manager Robert and his staff for their excellent work in organizing the tee times etc. Richard and his green keeping staff need a very special thanks for the condition of the course throughout the League.
The Dinner and presentation of prizes will take place on Friday 10th January 2014.
The Annual Foyle Golf Club Christmas Hamper played on Sunday last attracted close to 100 competitors on a decent day and there was some excellent scores returned with the best on the day 45pts from Stuart Gauld who took victory by a slender one point margin from Damien Mc Colgan and Martin Loughrey who both returned 44pts.

Foyle Golf Club Captain Mr George held his weekend away lately playing Lough Erne and Rosespoint golf courses, with the travelling party enjoying excellent playing conditions on two very well appointed courses, overall winner was Damien Martin who was the model of consistency with two excellent rounds of 36pts for his winning 72pts total
