The very successful 2017 Desmond Motors Winter League Series was concluded on Saturday when the 16 qualifying teams turned out for the final, to play for the coveted Winter League Title and the other five prizes on offer.
With 16 very strong teams having qualified it was certainly all set for a very competitive final and that’s how it played out with some excellent scores returned, Team 15, Eddie Ball and Steve Moore certainly brought their A game to the final when returning a good 21 points on the front nine followed by an exceptional back nine of 26 points for an outstanding winning score of 47 points to claim the coveted Winter League Title by three points from runner’s up Team 16, Michael Coyle and Gary Mc Elroy who finished on 44 points a score good enough to win on another day.
Ladies Winter League Result.
In the Ladies section of the Winter League Team 2, Lady Captain Florence Rankin, Lorna Thompson and Myra Gough were the outstanding team, Winning the coveted title with an excellent seven round average of 48.85 points for an accumulated total of 342 points and a clear advantage of 44 points over runner’s up Team 1, Alison Wright, Anne Hamilton and Maureen Sheerin who finished on 298 points.
