Kieran Duffy took the top prize in the Christmas Hamper but it was Philip Devlin’s “hole – in one” which hogged the headlines.
The members turned out in large numbers with the course in fine condition despite the terrible weather previous to the day. Competitors enjoyed a decent day with scoring of the highest order as the members played the last competition off their Congu Handicaps before the introduction of the WHS handicap system on Monday, 2nd November.
Seven Handicapper Kieran Duffy produced an excellent two over par round for his winning score off 41 points, as Cormac Mc Geady finished runner – up with another fine return of 39pts, albeit after a break of tie with third placed Declan Mc Kinney.
The highlight of the day however was that hole-in-one at the par three 13th hole where Devlin struck the perfect tee shot to hole out for his ace which was witnessed by playing partner, Cormac Mc Geady.
