The Annual Two Bridges Cup match between Foyle and Faughan Valley was played on Sunday last, this friendly but fiercely contested Annual match with a changed format for this years event had five fourball matches taking place at each course simultaneously which certainly made for a very tense affair.
Both Team Captains Emmet Mc Nally, Foyle and Robert Smallwoods, Faughan Valley picked two very strong and competitive teams which was going to make for a very competitive and close mach.
At Foyle the first match out was halved with Foyle winning match two, Faughan Valley won match four to draw level then Foyle made it 2.5 to 1.5 matches when winning match three but Faughan Valley pulled level when winning match five which left the matches at Foyle level with both teams on 2.5 matches each which was looking like a good return for Faughan Valley.
At Faughan Valley, Foyle got off to a fast start winning the first two matches out but not to be out done Faughan Valley leveled affairs leaving both teams locked on 2 matches each with one match still on the course and the overall match tied at 4.5 matches each therefore it was down to the last pairs on the course Foyle’s Kevin Dunn and John Jennings and Faughan Valley pair of Lee Totten and Kevin Hunter to win the Cup and this years bragging rights for their respective teams, with Kevin and John becoming the Foyle heroes when closing out their match on the last green to give Foyle the cup by 5.5 to 4.5 matches.
