The Qualifying section of the Desmond Motors Winter League came to a conclusion on Sunday last when the top eight teams were identified to contest the final, for the four team prizes on offer in the final on Saturday 6th December and after what proved a hugely competitive event with the best eight from ten cards counting, Team 15 Mark Doherty, Dermott Harkin, Paul Hegarty and Ciaran O’ Doherty finished as the leading qualifiers with a superb accumulated score of 756 points from their best eight cards and they will be considered as firm favorites to claim the coveted title, but nothing less than their A game will be needed as the other seven very good teams will be hoping for an upset. In the Ladies Winter League which also came to a conclusion on Sunday last, long time leaders Team 14 Anne Hamilton, Margaret Killen and Christine Mc Cafferty held a twenty points winning cushion after a very impressive accumulated total of 401 points from their best eight cards.
