Different Class Menswear 25th Anniversary Festival of Golf

The Different Class Menswear Sponsored 25th Anniversary Festival of Golf took centre stage at the Club over the week-end with an 18 Hole Scramble and B-B-Que getting proceedings underway on Friday evening followed by two Open Competitions on Saturday and Sunday and with the glorious weather and Course in pristine condition in excess of 250 competitors turned out for the events competing for £1000.00 in prizes making for a hugely successful week-end made possible by the generosity of the Sponsor Gerald Devine of Different Class Menswear and superbly organized by the Sponsor and Club, with the big winner on the week-end Stuart Gauld who won the back nine on Saturday followed by third place on Sunday also winning a £100.00 voucher for the best combined nett scores over the two competitions with 78 points.

Sunday Open.

Sunday’s Open saw 5 handicapper Christy Coyle produce an excellent two under par round for his winning score of 43 points with a three way 41 points break of tie called upon to decide second and third places which went in favour of James Meehan virtue of his superior 23 points on the back nine followed by Stuart Gauld who got the verdict for third with the best score on the last hole leaving the unfortunate Harry Wright to rue a missed putt.

Saturday Open.

Jason Murray started his round in Saturdays Competition with a modest 15 points on the front nine but then went into overdrive coming home when adding a further 25 points for his winning 40 points return albeit after a two way 40 points break of tie with second placed Mark Mc Intyre, as David Knox finished in third place on 39 points.

18 Hole Scramble & B-B-Que.

Friday evenngs 18 Hole Scramble which was followed by a B-B-Que was well supported on an excellent evening for the event with the winning Team of Geraldine Doherty, Chris Lynch, Terry Cavanagh and James Mc Callion produced an outstanding score of 55.5 which started with a modest level par front nine but then went into over-drive with a stunning back nine made up off 2 eagles, 5 birdies and two pars.
