Foyle Golf Club are having a record year in the 2016 G.U.I. Inter Club Competitions with all Teams Qualified for the Match Play in their respective competitions after Four Qualifiers.
First up was Chris Lynch and his Jimmy Bruen Team Qualifying in first place at Portstewart where they returned on Friday past to play Royal Portrush in the first round of the Match Play and after a very close affair failed to progress losing the match to the last putt on the last hole.
Kevin Dunn and his Pierce Purcell Team Qualified third at Bushfoot and will return to the same venue on Sunday 29th May to play Gracehill in the first round of the Match Play.
Jackie Thomas inspired his Irish Mixed Foursomes Team to a second place finish at City of Derry where they will return on Monday 6th June to play Rosapenna in the first round of the Match Play.
John Louden and his Senior Cup Team traveled to the Qualifier at Portsalon on Sunday last and once again proved they are one of the leading Senior Teams in the Northern section Qualifying in fourth place and will return to the same venue on Sunday 26th June where they will play near neighbors North West in the last sixteen of the Match Play.
Eddie Ball and his Irish Fourball team have reached the third round of the competition where they will play Carnalea after a solid 6/4 victory over Bundoran.
John Coyle and his Ulster Cup Team exited this year’s competition at Kilkeel in the second round when they came up against a more superior Team on the day, losing the tie 8.5 to 5.5.
