Foyle hosted Castlehume in the second leg of the first round in this years Ulster Cup Competition on Friday evening and what a dramatic end was in store for all involved with the match ending in stale mate after both legs.
Castlehume came into the match holding a slender 4 / 3 and 10 hole advantage, they then won the first three matches out to give them a 7 / 3 and 19 hole advantage which meant Foyle had to win the last four matches by 19 holes or better this they duly done with Ciaran O’ Doherty coming through 6 / 5, Kieran Bradley 5 / 4, Kevin Dunn 5 / 3, Martin Loughrey 3 / 2 which left the tie 7 all and 19 holes each, this meant the last pair out had to play the tie holes, up steps Kevin Dunn with the prospect of progression into the next round dependent on his next hole or holes, the first tie hole was halved after Castlehume missed a putt to take them through, with both players on the green at hole two Kevin had a 35ft birdie putt which he rolled into the cup leaving Castlehume with a testing 20ft putt for a half which he left short ensuring jubilation for Foyle.
