Lady Captain Zooms into Office

May 10, 2021

SHEILA ZOOMS  IN

The Ladies Branch at Foyle Golf Club held a very successful AGM last Wednesday when Sheila McLaughlin zoomed in as the new season’s Lady Captain, taking over the reins from Mary Wallace, outgoing captain, who reported on her own very successful and enjoyable if somewhat erratic year!

Thirty five members joined in the Zoom meeting to see the 2021 golfing season launched.

Lady President welcomed everyone warmly and wished the members a great year.

Incoming Lady Captain Sheila commented as she virtually secured her own pin to her blazer that she wants to be “ready, willing, and waiting” when Covid allows the Club to commence activities.

She thanked Mary for her contribution to the club in difficult circumstances and complimented her on a wonderful effort for her charity in aid of Foyle Search and Rescue when she raised in excess of £2,600.00  Mary in reply thanked everyone who had assisted her in the success of the Charity open.

Following the adoption of reports ably assisted by Hon Secretary Denise Callan, Sheila then carried out the election of officers and committee before presenting some tentative yet hopeful plans for the year.

Three new committee members were welcomed while Monica Smith has taken over the Competition Secretary spot as Anne Hamilton who along with Myra Gough (past Hon Sec) has stepped down after many years; They were both acknowledged for their long and dedicated service to the Club.

Good luck Sheila!
