Mr Brendan Grimes Captains Day

Foyle members turned out in force on Saturday last to play for Mr Brendan Grimes Captains Prizes and the large turnout were greeted with a perfect day for golf and enjoyed a course in splendid condition.

This made for good scoring and along with the Captains hospitality at the ninth hole pit stop it ensured everything was in place for a very enjoyable and successful day. Adding to the excitement was a hole – in – one at the par three thirteenth hole where mark Mc Intyre struck the perfect six iron to hole out for his ace witnessed by his playing partners Damien Ming, Paul Maxwell and Dermott Harkin.

19 handicapper Declan Campbell had a day to remember starting his round with a modest 18 points on the front nine and then going into over drive on the way home by adding another 25 points for a fantastic score of 43 points to win the coveted Captains prize.

Emmet Mc Nally finished runner – up with 42 points a score good enough to win on another day, with Paul Mc Daid and Steven Brown finishing third and fourth respectively after a multiple 39 points break of tie, + 1 handicapper Damien Mc Kenna returned the best gross score on the day.
