Former Foyle Golf Club Captain, Gary Jackson posted a fine score of 40 points which secured the coveted 2018 Captain’s Prize for the delighted 11 handicapper at Ballyarnett on Saturday.
There was a large turnout for Mr Eamonn O’ Kane’s Captain’s Day which was greeted with a mixed bag of weather as the earlier starters had to contend with a couple of heavy showers which cleared to leave a fine day.
However, with the Ballyarnett course in absolute pristine condition, the overhead conditions certainly had no effect on the competitors as scoring was of the highest order.
One of the earlier starters, former Club Skipper, Jackson certainly relished the conditions to post a fine score of 40 points which kept the lead throughout the day.
Five handicapper, Ryan Harkin finished runner – up after a two way 39 points break of tie virtue of his better score on the last six holes, with category four player, Ronnie Kennedy finishing third after the tie break.
One of the Clubs rising stars Tiernan Dunn had a day to remember when he posted a fine score of 39 points to claim the Juvenile Prize.
