The esteem in which Foyle Golf Club Captain Mr Martin Campbell is held was witnessed on Saturday last with the outstanding turnout of members & quests playing for his excellent array of prizes with 190 plus competitors which included the Ladies who played on Thursday.
David Hasson, James Sheehan & Stevie Moore got the competition underway and it certainly was an explosive start when Stevie holed out with his tee shot at par three third hole for a hole – in – one and his golf insurance came in very handy with a large bar tab to pick up but will be compensated with a limited edition Boss Hole – In – One Watch.
Another of the earlier starters Stephen Mc Caul got his round off to a great start when he holed out with his second shot at the first hole for an Eagle and five points after recording a blank at the second hole he played steady golf thereafter finishing the front nine with 20 points, starting the back nine with a blank he again played excellent golf with seven straight pars finishing his round with a bogey for 22 points on the back nine and an excellent 42 points total to claim the coveted Captains Prize.
Brendan Grimes played steady golf to finish runner up with 41 points, Terry Cavanagh finished in third place after a 40 points break of tie with fourth placed finisher Kevin Thomas.
