The Diageo St Patricks Bank Holiday Open Stableford attracted an excellent entry with some 100 competitors taking to the Ballyarnett fairways marking the start of the competitive season.
Even though the weather was a mixed bag, scoring was very good from the back tees with a 42 points break of tie deciding the first Open winner of the 2019 season in favour of 16 handicapper Brendan Gallagher. This was virtue of his superior back nine with 11 handicapper Terry Cavanagh finishing runner – up after the tie break, as another 11 handicapper David Wilson finished third after a 39 points break of tie.
